RECOUP_plaatje_met_handenThe Dutch RSI Association will be holding a conference on Saturday the 25th of February 2012, to mark the 13th International RSI-Day. The conference will take place at the Isala Clinic in Zwolle.

Dr. Deepak Sharan, an RSI expert from Bangalore, India, will give a lecture during the morning programme. Dr. Sharan has developed his own method of treating RSI and set up several treatment centres that have been an unparalleled success.

The lecture and the discussion will be held in English. Dr. Deepak Sharan was our guest speaker  at a conference  in 2009 and we are delighted to welcoming him back. Besides members of the RSI association we would like to invite physicians, researchers, specialists and all other professionals in the field of RSI. Employers too should find his presentation interesting.

Keynote speaker: Leading lecturer and consulting physician Dr. Deepak Sharan

Deepak_SharanDr. Deepak Sharan is an Indian expert in the field of RSI. He the founder and Medical Director of an RSI centre of excellence in Bangalore, India. In addition to this he is an advisor in the field of orthopaedic surgery and RSI. He has an impressive list of titles and certificates concerning orthopaedics and ergonomics.

Ortho, DNB Ortho, Dip Ortho, M Sc Orthopaedic Engineering (UK), Dip Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation Technology (UK), Fellow, AACP&DM (USA), Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics (UK & USA), Certificate in Ergonomics (Sweden) Consultant in Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation & Ergonomics, Medical Director RECOUP Neuromusculoskeletal Rehabilitation Centre, Bangalore, India.

One of his most interesting theories is that diffuse or non-specific  RSI doesn’t really exist but is a result of inaccurate diagnosis. The treatment programme in his RECOUP clinic in Bangalore is multidisciplinary: a combination of physiotherapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, physical exercises  and many  other aspects. It’s a full-time program of 8-13 weeks, by which time he claims to achieve a 95% success rate for both chronic and non-chronic RSI. Physiotherapist Jerrish A Jose

Co-founder of the Recoup Physiotherapy Department and since 2001 Senior Finance Manager of the RECOUP Neuromusculoskeletal Rehabilitation Centre in Bangalore. He has treated over 6000 patients with RSI, muscoloskeletal disorders and cerebral palsy. He is also a visiting Faculty Member to the Manipal Academy of Higer Education, Manipal for post-graduate physiotherapy programmes. For more information click here for the website of Dr. Sharan.

 

Speaker: Diederick van den Berg

Diederick has suffered from RSI since 2005, and was severely restricted by the condition for 2.5 years. During this period he did everything he could to recover and even travelled to India to undergo a three-month treatment programme after hearing about RECOUP. Since his treatment he has been able to resume his education full-time. He went back to RECOUP in December 2011 for another month after a slight relapse. Judith van Drooge

Judith_van_DroogeJudith is a certified teacher in the Martial Arts. She practices Tai Chi Chuan and within this she concentrates on the Yang style. Janneke Vasse

She is ‘Expert by experience’ with RSI diagnosed in 1996. Janneke underwent treatment in the RECOUP clinic with Dr. Deepak Sharan from January to March 2010 in Bengaluru, India. She is the first Dutch woman to get that treatment. The results are permanently positive. Whereas she couldn’t get pain free after many treatments in the Netherlands, Dr. Sharan and his staff succeeded to free her from the pain. You can read her story in the blog she kept during and after her trip (it’s in Dutch but if you look at the ‘comments’ below there is an English translation of each posting). Janneke has kindly organized this conference on behalf of the RSI Association and she will be available to answer your questions all day.

Registration

The mini-symposium will be held at the Isala Clinic, Sophia location, Dokter van Heesweg 2, Zwolle and is easy accessible by public transport.

Please register as soon as possible to ensure a place. You can use the registration form or register via e-mail with all mentioned data. Your e-mail should content all the required information as mentioned in the registration form. Members of the RSI  Association will be given priority. Admission is free for members. Non-members will be requested by make a one-off paymet of €25,-. This is in effect a year’s membership of the association and includes all the benefits of membership for that period, including four issues of our ‘Handvat’ magazine.
